Madhya Pradesh has again become a leopard state. There has been an increase of 1023 leopards across the country in 5 years, out of which the maximum of 486 has increased in Madhya Pradesh alone. That means 47.50% increase happened here, whereas their number has decreased in 7 states. That means, along with tigers and leopards, we are the ‘first home’ of leopards. Now the number of leopards in Madhya Pradesh has reached 3907.
The total number of leopards in India has reached 13875. At the time of census conducted five years ago in 2018, there were 3421 leopards in Madhya Pradesh, while there were 12852 leopards in India. Union Environment Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav released the report on leopards in India on Thursday.
